The UAE continues to attract global investors and talent with the recent expansion of its prestigious Golden Visa Program. This initiative provides long-term residency permit [5 or 10 years] to a wider range of specialized professionals and high-net-worth individuals.
Demonstrating its commitment to foster a dynamic and innovative ecosystem within the nation, the UAE has raised the bar in competitiveness by expanding Golden Visa eligibility criteria in three additional categories.
Three New Categories Eligible
Recent updates to the UAE Golden Visa program have significantly broadened its scope, welcoming a wider range of exceptional individuals:
-
- Golden Visa for Teachers
In October 2024, the UAE introduced the Golden Visa for teachers, a long-term residency program aimed at attracting top educators to the nation. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has extended this visa to outstanding teachers and educators in schools, universities, and early childhood centers (ECCs) who have made significant contributions to the private education sector.
This initiative underscores the UAE’s dedication to fostering world-class education by recognizing educators who excel in innovation and academic achievements.
Eligible educators can apply for a renewable, 10-year residency visa, allowing them to live and work in Dubai while also benefiting from the ability to sponsor family members. To qualify, applicants must meet specific criteria set by the KHDA.
-
- Golden Visa for Luxury Yacht Owners
The UAE is offering a 10-year Golden Visa to luxury yacht owners in Abu Dhabi through the newly launched ‘Abu Dhabi Golden Quay’ initiative. This program, spearheaded by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and Yas Marina, is designed to attract high-net-worth individuals to invest in the emirate.
Owners of private yachts measuring 40 meters or more are eligible to be nominated for the Golden Visa. The initiative also extends to key figures within the yachting industry, such as executives, yacht-building company shareholders, major agents, service providers, and insurers.
Additionally, family members of nominated individuals can benefit from residency under this program.
-
- Dubai Gaming Visa
Dubai is boosting its rapidly growing e-sports sector with the introduction of the ‘Dubai Gaming Visa’ as part of the Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 (DPG33). This 10-year Golden Visa is designed for professionals in the gaming industry and was launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
To apply, candidates must obtain an accreditation certificate from Dubai Culture and meet the minimum age requirement of 25 years. This initiative positions Dubai as a leading global hub for gaming and e-sports.
Additionally, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) is supporting gaming professionals and e-sports talents through its own Golden Visa programme, further solidifying the UAE’s commitment to this booming industry.
